Club FAQ's

I'm not a member and never have been. How do I join the TT Owners Club?
You need to go to the TTOC shop and buy a membership. We have 1, 2 & 3 years memberships, with UK, European and International postage rates. After you have bought your membership, we will process your application as soon as your payment clears. Click here to purchase a new membership.

I have been a member in the past and now want to be a member again. What do I need to do?
It makes our life easier if you can log back into the shop account that you used to buy your original membership. In the TTOC shop this type of transaction is called a renewal. Click here to purchase a membership renewal. Using your old TTOC shop account rather than creating a new one, enables you to retain your order history and more importantly, your old membership number.

I'm an existing member and I want to renew. What do I need to do and isn't there a benefit to me if I wait till I've expired?
There is no benefit in waiting to renew. We will add your 4, 8 or 12 absoluTTe issue renewal on to your expiry issue. For example, if you expire in 2 issues time and renew for 2 years, we will ensure you receive 10 issues (2 + 8) . If you want to renew, it makes our life easier if you can log back into the shop account that you used to buy your original membership. In the TTOC shop this type of transaction is called a renewal. Using your old TTOC shop account rather than creating a new one, enables you to retain your order history and more importantly, your old membership number.

I can't remember what my old email address or password that I used for my TTOC shop account previously. What do I do?
If you can't remember what your old email address that you used to login with, email the TTOC shop, with your membership number, surname and postcode and we will find it and email you back.

If you can't access your email address, then email the TTOC shop, with your membership number, surname, postcode & the email address you would like to use in future and we will change your account and email you back.

If you have forgotten your TTOC shop password, but can remember and have access to your registered email address, then click here to be sent a password reminder.

How is the TTOC run?
The TTOC is run on a not-for-profit basis by a team of committee members. Each of the committee members is responsible for one particular area of running the TTOC.

How do I contact the TTOC?
There are numerous ways to get in touch with us – each committee member has their own email address (click here for a list of email addresses) or you can send an email to the committee and it will reach us all. We also have a Postal Address if you’d prefer which is:

TT Owners Club
PO BOX 8061
Reading
Berkshire
RG30 9BU

At present, we’re not quite big enough for a dedicated call centre, so we can’t offer a phone number for you to call. However, if you need to speak to committee member about an issue, an initial email will prompt their phone number and you can call them direct.

Where is my nearest TTOC event held?
Obviously, this will depend where you are in the country. We have a network of Regional Reps (click here to find your nearest rep). You can decide which is your nearest and contact them via their own homepage on this site. Most already run regular meets and would be more than happy to welcome a new face. If there isn’t a rep in your area and you’re interested in becoming a rep, then please click here to email us.

I placed my order in the TTOC shop three weeks ago - why hasn't it arrived yet?
As a not-for-profit club run entirely by volunteers, all TTOC work has to fit in around home and work life. As such, delivery times can take longer than you might expect from a professional organisation. We do quote a maximum time of six weeks, but this is mainly to allow for those times when members of the Merchandise team are on holiday or tied up with work. We would aim to fulfil all orders much sooner than this.

I'd like to get involved in running the club - how can I find out more?
Simply send an email to the committee and outline (briefly) any relevant experience you have or any ideas you have that you think we might like to hear.

How can I contact a commitee member?

If the TTOC is run on a not-for profit basis what does it do with any spare cash?
As a not-for-profit organisation, the club is not run to generate an operating surplus. The club does maintain a cash balance to ensure that all outstanding commitments (sufficient forward issues of absoluTTe for all subscribed members for example) can be met. We do however explicity attempt to raise money for charity though activities at our annual event such as a raffle and auction and services that members will provide in exchange for a donation. Any profit from ticket sales at the event is also added to the donation. This year we are supporting NSPCC Childline. In the past we’ve donated to other charities including:

2006 - £2200 to Childline
2005 - £1570 to Changing Faces
2004 - £306.94 to the NSPCC
2003 - £526.25 to the NSPCC

Can I have my say about the running of the TTOC?

Of course, committee members are elected and run the club on behalf of all its members. As a club member, your vote is equally important as anyone else’s and you can exercise your right to vote at the annual AGM.

What do I do with fliers?
We hope that you enjoy being a member of the TTOC and hope that you will want to help us spread the word amongst TT owners. We include fliers in your membership pack so that you can pass on the details of the club to friend or colleagues who have a TT, otherwise you can simply leave one under the wipers of the TTs you see on your travels.

Is there an incentive for recruiting new TTOC members?
We currently don’t offer an incentive for recruiting members – but it is something which we are looking at for the future. Let us know if you have any suggestions.

How do I find a list of member discounts?
A full list of member discounts can be found by clicking here.

If I paid for a year’s membership why have I received my renewal notice after 9 months?
Due to the timing of absoluTTe its possible that it will be less than 12 months after the date you join before your fourth magazine is sent to you. You will receive a renewal reminder with your expiry issue. Your membership benefits (such as member price event tickets) will continue until the anniversary of joining, however to recieve your next copy of absoluTTe on time you should renew nice and early. When you renew your membership will be extended by 12/24/36 months from the original date of expiry and for 4/8/12 issues.

Why doesn’t the club take credit cards?
As a not-for-profit club we are always trying to reduce the amount of overheads that the club pays out. We have looked at a number of providers such as Worldpay but using their service would incur a significant cost to the club. We will keep looking out for options though.

I want to go to an event but I am worried that its all about cars - will I know enough?
Our events are much more about socialising than simply talking about cars. Of course, there is talk of TTs, but then you can learn more about them by turning up to the meets. Don’t worry – even our absoluTTe sub-editor describes himself as a ‘Mechanical Retard’ so you’re not alone if you don’t know everything there is to know about motors.

Why isn’t there a TT event near me?
If there currently isn’t an event listed near you, then it’s probably because there isn’t a Regional Rep in your area – in which case, you could apply for the role and start your own meets. For more details about becoming a Rep yourself, contact us here.

Who are the committee - how were they elected?
To find our more about each of the committee members, click here. Many of the committee members were integral to the setting up of the club and were voted into their positions at the first EGM. Subsequently they’ve been voted for at each following AGM.

Does the club have a constitution?
The club's constitution was created just after the formation of the club and committee, early 2003. From time to time we may need to approach you (our members) to validate changes in order for the club to move forward. The constitution can be found by clicking here.

What other documents does the club have that are shared with the members?
We have pages that show our privacy policy, shipping policy for membership packs and merchandise) from the shop & a returns policy. All of these can be found by clicking on the links below
