Yeah, I know...it's not a TT, and I already have a TT thread....sue me :D

As I wrote in the last issue of AbsoluTTe, I don't have a TT at the moment - a couple of health issues just now don't make it worthwhile sinking a lot of money into a Mk3 TT for the time being

Instead, have gone for a company car...a Golf GTD manual 3 door, with the same 2.0 TDI 184 PS engine as the Mk3 TT Ultra

It's always been a running joke that the TT is a Golf in a fancy frock...so let's see :D

Spec is::

Tartan check cloth seats
3 door manual
Discover Pro touchscreen Sat Nav, with 8" screen, voice control, and built in SSD for storage
Keyless entry and auto-folding wing mirrors
Winter pack
18" diamond cut 5 spoke alloys
Full Xenon headlights, with dynamic turning beams
Sport & Sound pack for a bit of fun (red brake calipers, and an enhanced deep sound from the exhaust to counteract the uninspiring sound of a 4 cylinder diesel - the Audi SQ5 uses the same tech in the exhaust system)

Our A6 was driven into a few weeks ago by a dozy driver, so I also planned to fit a dashcam...just in case

Being a company car, modifications are pretty much barred, but a couple of cosmetic changes are going to happen, along with my private plate being added on.

The car comes with a lot of standard kit, some of which you just can't even get on the TT as an option. Comes with all round parking sensors, city braking (which automatically slams on the brakes if it detects you are going to run into something in front), and radar guided cruise control, which automatically keeps the car at the speed you select, and decreases/increases it in line with traffic conditions - sounds weird, but it works amazingly well on busy main roads and motorways

From day of delivery at beginning of February

First chance to deep clean the car this weekend

For a company car that I expected the fleet company to have done little to prep it, it actually came prepared very well

I carried out a full degrease, paint cleanse, claybar, glass cleaned, cloth seats scotchgarded for protection, initial coat of Dodo Juice Supernatural, and water repellant over all windows resulted in this - some nice deep colour and reflections coming through

I do like the Dodo Juice range of detailing products - easy to apply, not too expensive, smell lovely and good results

Healthwise, over did it yesterday, so was absolutely knackered today, but will give another coat of wax next weekend

They've certainly come on a long way since I had a Mk4 Gold GT TDI. :) Well, technically I had three of them but I rejected the first two.

The spec also shows up the miserly way Audi offer the TT with many of the things you might expect to be standard in an expensive car relegated, cynically, to the options list.
That said, leather is standard on the TT but an expensive (£2k ?) option of the Golf.

Is that a black and white tartan on the seats?
TT RS Ara Blue with black interior, 19" wheels and some other toys.

VW leather isn't really that great but if there had been all alcantara option...the black tartan looks good though

Got hold of an OEM Audi TT Mk2 front to back short shifter mechanism - cheap mod at £39

Same gearbox, so a bit of lateral thinking lead me to investigate the part numbers

Might need a bit of help fitting - never fitted one myself and don't want to screw it up
