Oil and filter change time, so Monday drained oil and replaced filter and while there was no oil in sump, removed the sump and replaced oil pick up pipe. Good opportunity remove any bits lying in the bottom of the sump and give it a bit of a clean.
Put it all back together again on Wednesday.

I had a few days off recently so while enjoying the good weather decided to do some of the jobs that I’d been gathering parts for.
First up was to remove the front track control arms and get the local garage to fit the Cookbots, it didn’t take long to realise that the tools I have were sadly lacking and not up to the task plus I also needed an offset 18mm ring spanner to get onto the nut for the aft attachment. In addition to this the headlight levelling system which attaches to the left hand side track control arm was so badly corroded that the attaching bolts just sheared when any force was applied to undo the various nuts etc.
So a call to TPS was required to order up the broken bits and a rethink of what I hoped to achieve over the next few days.
Decided to put off removing the track control arms until more suitable tools were purchased and instead reinstalled the new parts for the headlight levelling system and replaced the broken side panel on the left hand side that I had picked up over a year ago.

Also took out the lower 3 grills from the bumper cover and gave them a coating of Plastikote Primer and then Plastikote Matt Black paint.
Unfortunately because I’d fitted a FMIC I couldn’t get my hand/arm up to release the front grill so will do this at a later date.

Over the last few months I had noticed a knocking / rattle from my drivers door. Having removed the door card I couldn’t see anything obvious but I did find an unusual looking box at the bottom rear corner which Had some movement in it.
I tightened the attaching screws and posted a question on the forum asking if anyone knew what it was.
It didn’t take long for several answers to come back all stating it was a tracker and since I had no information regarding its installation and wasn’t currently paying for a tracking service decided to remove it.
Hopefully this will cure my knocking / rattle when driving.

So, with tomorrow comes 3 years of TT ownership, another 12 months disappeared. Although with the work that I have wanted to do and still have planned, time has a habit of slipping by.
A summary of the last 12 months endeavours:-
OEM short shifter installed
Drivers seat worn leather areas given the Liquid Leather treatment
Corroded rear tow bracket removed (this one put up a fight)
After run coolant pump replaced
Both sill covers and tread plates replaced
LED number plate lights installed
Tarox front brake calipers, discs and pads fitted by AwesomeGTI
Handbrake cover replaced
Headlight lenses replaced
New rear tow bracket installed
Sump removed and oil pick up pipe replaced
Fwd headlight level sensor, linkage and bracket replaced
Fwd lower grills removed and given fresh coat of Plastikote
Tracker removed
Already have parts to replace over the coming months, Tarox rear discs and pads, Badger 5 TIP, BBT Hybrid Turbo and Cookbots Track Control Arm bushes (now I have some better tools).
I’m sure the wish list will grow, some will get done sooner than others, lets see what the next 12 months bring!!!

Looking back through the history that came with the TT, the last time the rear brakes were replaced was over 10 years ago, since I had already picked up some Tarox discs and pads to match the front I looked into replacing them a couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get either of the caliper pistons to wind back in using a wind back tool.
