And in with the new, gave the caliper carriers and splash plates a coat of satin black to tidy them up but the splash plates could really do with replacing. A job for the future perhaps ;)

So each day this week I’ve spent an hour or two replacing my camshaft chain tensioner, reason being since I got the car three years ago there has always been a slight rattle on starting especially if left for more than a day and during winter it is worse and lasts a little longer.
I replaced the oil pick up pipe earlier in the year but this hasn’t helped.
Having read a few threads on the tt forum and looking at a few you tube videos decided to give it ago. Having priced up a tensioner at TPS I decided on an after market one from Febi which came complete with gaskets and a chain, although I decided against replacing the chain at this time.
So with TDC set using timing mark on flywheel and also on camshaft cover and timing belt I counted the sixteen rollers between timing marks on the inlet and exhaust sprockets and marked them before removing the tensioner.

New chain tensioner installed, powder coated camshaft cover fitted (which I’ve had a year now just waiting for the right opportunity to swap out) and all back together.
Engine rattled initially while oil pressure built in the new tensioner but otherwise all good, went for a drive and then scanned for faults and checked for oil leaks, all good.
Let’s see if this has cured my slight engine rattle on start up!!

At the last MOT Shak mentioned that the windscreen wipers were quite slow and suggested cleaning and lubricating the wiper arm linkage, having read a few threads on the forum it appeared that the linkages seizing up was quite common, so gave TPS a ring and they could supply a new linkage at a reasonable price.
So decided to replace rather than try and clean up, also replaced scuttle panel since it had to come off anyway.

The rear panel in the boot had quite a lot of scratches and marks on it and I had been thinking about replacing it for sometime. When I contacted TPS they told me it was no longer available, so I had a look online and found a website in Germany that said it had it in stock. Since I wanted to replace it I thought it would also be a good opportunity to see how good the service was and if in fact they were new original parts or new old stock (NOS) parts.
Order placed I was very happy when the part arrived and in a relatively short time.

Recently picked up a second hand fuel filler flap and surround off eBay with a view to changing the colour to matt or satin black to match the rear valance, not sure wether to paint, powder coat or anodise.
Yesterday started dismantling into the piece parts to make it easier for the colour change.

Also picked up some black bolts from pro-bolt for re-installation.

A couple of bits arrived recently, a Cookbots gear slop bush and a Black Friday purchase from Forge that was delivered yesterday. Hopefully get them fitted over the next few days.

Managed to get a couple of jobs done on the car before Christmas, the Forge charge pipe was fitted and changed the interior lights over to led’s.
Also picked up the fuel filler flap after being powder coated, just need to re-assemble.
