I'm sorry I've been a bit quiet recently, although to be fair, most people have probably not even noticed! There's been so much going on elsewhere that my poor TT hasn't seen much love. I've been driving it every day to work, but that's about it. Things have settled down somewhat now though, so I've managed to get around to doing something I've been meaning to do for a while.

Over the last six months at least, there's been a knocking and clunking coming from the rear of the car. The guys at APS had it in on two separate occasions (for service and MOT respectively) but couldn't pinpoint what the issue was. So they've had it since Monday to try and finally track down the issue, as Darren has his new car, I've been in the A2 this week.

They found it on the first day! They had another TT in that they were changing the rear dampers on, so they decided to try them on mine first. If nothing else, it would rule them out as the cause, but it cured the noise completely! These dampers were new 15k miles ago, but fitted at the TT Shop. I tried to speak to Dave there a couple of times, but he was either unavailable, or on another call, but the details of the problem were passed on, along with the advice that Ed at APS was more than happy to discuss with Dave what could be done to sort out the issue.

Wednesday I get an email from Ed to say that he'd had a call from Bilstein to say that they were going to send replacement dampers straight to him to arrive Thursday. They did. They've been fitted, and the noise is gone. And I pick her up this afternoon. :D

I can't speak highly enough of Ed at APS enough, he's kept me informed all the way through. He calls when he say he's going to, and always responds to questions. Unlike Dave at the TT Shop, who won't take calls, won't return calls, and just never communicates. All we got was a message that he was speaking to a couple of people to see what could be done. No indication that he was speaking to Bilstein, no indication that he was going to get replacements sent out.

I have no complaints over the end result, but I'm still baffled over how the lack of communication from the TT Shop. ???

Glad your car is fixed up, and Bilstein sending a replacement set.

I was hoping TT shop had improved since changing a few staff member since my experience with them. It seems not.

All I'll say is Hazydaze sorted out the LED/Zeon upgrade in 40mins, that the TTshop failed to do in six weeks.

I was hoping that this would go some way to restoring my faith in them, but whilst I can acknowledge that they know their stuff, and Dave organised the replacements with no fuss, at no point was any information forthcoming.

Ed didn't even charge me any labour for changing over the dampers, even though APS didn't fit them initially. It makes a change to find someone who understands what good customer service actually means.

The TT did me proud a couple of weekends ago. We drove to the Nurburging to watch the ADAC 24 racing there. She did one lap on the Sunday before (the last day that the track was open for tourist laps), hot off the 230ish miles from the Hook of Holland, and still our suitcase, and a boot full of stuff. Our companions also took their XC60 out for a lap similarly laden. The only thing they left out of their car was Jack their labradoodle!

And yes, I was a passenger in my own car, as I don't know the track, and wasn't at all confident. Darren, on the other hand, has been around it before.

A week of watching racing, eating too much, and getting very wet followed.

The obligatory snap under the sign was taken the day we left, as it was far too busy to get whilst the racing was on.

We also took a detour back through Belgium on the way home.

No dramas, nothing broke, nothing fell off. And only 2 and a half tanks of petrol used, as we spent most of the week all piled in the Volvo!

And a photo of Jack, just because he's so adorable.
