Now then. The grill removal was awkward as it was tight. Those that say the grill can be removed without taking off the front bumper must have hands from an alien planet. There was very little chance of removing the OEM grill without breaking anything if the bumper stayed on. You could get the bumper off without loosening the wheel arch flaps but it did help. Back to the grill. The xenonz version is made for the TTRS not the TT/TTS so needed adjustments. There are parts that appear would receive some sort of screw or bolt;

With these I sawed into them a little then bent them off with pliers, what was left was filed down. A little bit of trim also needed filling down to stop the interference fit. Once done the grill went on nicely. This is also the moment I'm thankful for following some advice to purchase the thicker grill of xenonz as when pressure was applied it did flex a bit, who knows how much a 'thin' grill would take before breaking. Downside of the thicker grill is that the foam across the crash bar needs to be taken off. Although I reckon it could have stayed it was applying pressure to the grill that would force it out. This lead to the obvious eye-saw of the crash bar.

But with a coat of black hammerite the eye-saw was no more.

I recommend getting an extra pair of hands for the whole ordeal but filing that certainly get another pair of hands for putting the bumper on. Probably can be done solo but is far easier with A-AN-OTHER.

Sorry I didn't have more pictures as it was a learning curve for me and my first attempt. Hopefully my wright up can add more pieces to the puzzle that can already be found among the forums.

Yes this could be seen as copying the RS but I like the honeycomb. Gives a sportier look, not necessarily more aggressive but more sport. IMO its head over heels of the OEM grey/silver and matches the upper and lower grills to give an overall better effect to the front end.

Now I need to look into quick release plates.

Managed to get some VCDS tests done. I know have all my base data for MPG/0-60/idle/constants.

Engine mods etc will come once the warranty is gone but at least I can see what affect, if any, will be made once the mods arrive.

I'll being running the TTS on V-power Nitro Plus soon. With my data hopefully I can see if it is actually making a change. On my TDI A5 it did make a change but only after 6 months of every single tank being Ultimate or V-power. Interesting to see what it does for the 2.0 TFSI.

0-60 runs with yielded 5.3 s ± 0.2 s. Happy with that as it did start to drizzle a little on runs 6-8 and I forgot to have VCDS on turbo mode for the first 5 runs.

Got the Windows tinted today. Very pleased. They are a touch darker than a Black Edition especially on the front. They have only just been done so still have the cloudy water marks etc

Can really see that the fronts are darker than average in this pic.

Can see the darkness of the rear.

Can see around the edge of the heating filaments were its not quite dry and pressed yet. Got to wait at least 36 hours before I try to press the film.

Inside is more shaded. Doesn't impair at all during the day. Mainly got the tints to reduce the heat so I'll see how that goes.

The grille change really does make the car look better, I think I'll add it to my list of things to do.

How much did the lower grilles cost?

I think if I was going to change it, I'd got the full works like you did.

Its looking good and the improvements make a big difference

Many thanks. The lower grills were just shy of £100 but thats only because I played 2 dealers off against each other.

I agree. One should not be cahnged without the other to match

Now put a tank of Shell V-power Nitro+ in the TTS.

Initially straight off the forecourt there was no change whatsoever. Not that I expected any change. However my trip computer did read higher than average but other factors can also explain this better reading. Anyway filled up on the Friday and didn't drive again until Sunday.

IMO the start up is a little smoother now and in general a little smoother. However my Sunday drive did not render any better MPG.

Time will tell. When I used BP Ultimate in my TDi A5 it took around 6 months for the benefits to plateau, so I imagine it will also take some time in the TFSI.

My subjective opinion, the objective numbers will come later

V-power numbers update.

I've now done just shy of 4000 miles filling up with Shell V-power Nitro+ for al bar 5 fill ups...even then I used the equivalent.

The first 2700 miles I did on standard fuel resulted in a total average of 31.6 mpg. My average of the 4k miles is 33.9 mpg.

Yes its better mpg but costing roughly 9-10p more per litre has meant my cost per mile has gone up by......1p.

So there is a little proof to the claims. As far as I can test, having proof for 1 claim raises my trust that the other claims are true also. So for the sake of 1 pence per mile extra, i'll take that for the added engine cleaning and longevity.

I haven't managed to do any VCDS testing once the fuel has ran through as my diagnostic laptop died (damn vag-com for not supporting mac). Since I've done a service and 'upgraded' the spark plugs so any test now would be inconclusive.

Anyways hope this adds a little weight to the fuel debate.

HEL braided hoses have gone on today. Interior LED's have also gone in but need tinckering.
