AK47 “Silver Arrow”

Post by AK47 » Sun May 12, 2019 9:29 pm

Granddaughters (6&9) came to see us yesterday, they liked the look of Grandad’s new toy! They both (individually of course) screamed “Grandad how fast are we going?”, no answer from myself, concentrating on getting round the road! Stepson was also impressed, he didn’t realise he’d been hyperventilating!
Even though I’ve limited myself to 5K revs, while I’m getting used to it and whilst waiting for cambelt replacement (being done next week whilst away on hols) what an amazing machine!!!
Sooooo much torque and power, but without the nervous tail happy Westfield memories.
Done couple of local trips now, really enjoy this little pocket rocket!!
Took a few attempts to get tonneau on correctly, diagrams confused me slightly, but now I’ve got it, really like the lines.
Initial clean of engine bay covers helps the under bonnet look. Thoughts are to keep it as it, as an example of stock machine, from the outside.

Posted update on Oils in TT Arena, just to say that the performance of car after routine service is really sharp now, well impressed! Moving on to service brakes at all corners, couldn’t figure out why N/S/F wheel was difficult to refit. Brake disc securing screw been sheared off!!! Much careful drilling later, temp screw fitted to enable easier wheel refitting. Removed front wheel arch liners cleaned out muck, sprayed with WD40 type spray and refitted liners. Now need to get and fit some spring clips and screws for undertray etc. Removed and opened alarm siren unit, FUBARRED! Got replacement from E-bay, fitted today, leave overnight and see if that performs after charging.
