DSG gearbox noise and hello
Hello, I have just joined the club. I have a 2004 Coupe 3.2 V6, all original, dark grey with red interior. The other day I noticed what I thought was a new sound which was like a clicking noise from the top right side of the engine. By the speed and sound I thought it was timing chains, tensioner or valve related. Upon taking it to the local VW garage for an informal opinion they said it was actually coming from the top of the gearbox and they thought it might be oil circulating through the oil cooler. Two other garages have also said it was gearbox but had no idea what it might be and , at this stage, it was not worth taking out the gearbox to explore. They seemed to think there was not anything actually wrong. The noise is nearly perceptible and cannot be heard over the noise of the engine other than at idling speed and you cannot hear it inside the car. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers
