I note your touring intentions with your TT. Last year there was an article in Audi Driver magazine where a keen TT owner installed sound proofing.
It encouraged me to do the same and I'm very pleased with the result. It lowered road noise a little but the main improvements have been better speech clarity when chatting and also in B&O sound quality. So if you like to cruise listening to your favourite tracks, I'd recommend having a go.
My "Road Noise" thread from May will give you more info -

Thanks, that’s a great idea. Especially for UK motorways.

Time I updated this thread. I decided to go for Bilstein B14 coilovers instead of KW, this brand change based on local tuner Andy at Storm advised. I contacted Bilstein who said that B14 fixed damping rate is at the softer end of the B16 adjustment range otherwise they use the same springs. I wanted to adjust the height easily from near stock in the winter to low for everything else. Hopefully, greasing the threads twice a year will keep them useable. Image

These alloys are not the winter 17x7j but the ‘lightweight forged’ 17x8j made by Fuchs (as are the 19” twin five spoke alloys on the s-line, the std. twin 5 spokes on the TTS and the 20” 10-spoke Y option wheels, all forged. See the Fuchs website. These 17” have been removed from the fuchs website but when listed they were 8.8kg, the 19” were 10.6kg and the 20 nit much more. A rare example of Audi specing the best wheels as default from s-line up. If you go to Audi german website you’ll see these 17x8 ‘lightweight forged’ as standard on the Sport TT. Don’t understand the UK obsession with huge alloys... why didn’t Audi uk offer the 17” as an option? That’s over 4kg per wheel lighter than my original 18” wheels; very noticeable improvement in ride comfort, noise reducing, and handling. There’s a bit more sway if you’re not smooth with steering, but the grip is better on anything but the smoothest tarmac. I’ve also fitted 12mm spacers on the rear only. Looking ok to me... any thoughts?

So i used Storm in Aldermaston to fit the B14 and Powerflex dogbone mount insert. Great job and very reasonable price for fitting as I got a discount from working for a local company.

I should say that the dogbone insert has added some vibration transmission, noticeable on start from cold and at low revs. But once warm there’s no vibration if I turn the a/c fan off (no load on alternator) and barely noticeable with fan on. With stop-start it’s not a problem anyway. When driving, the lack of slack in the transmission (manual) is great, exactly what I wanted to fix. Also the TCS banging as it tries to control slip when pulling away in the wet is eliminated. Some reviews i read say the nvh reduces after a few weeks but I doubt it! It’s a compromise balance decision and a cheap one to try if the standard transmission slop bothers you. Easy to revert if you don’t like the extra vibes. But it’s no worse than the Integra R and slightly worse than the Subaru WRX in the vibration with the insert.

APR Stage 1 on 1.8TFSI Mk3 TT FWD manual 194>259bhp (V-Power fuel and I got lucky with a good 'un, stronger than average stock output) . Also had Wavetrac LSD fitted and XDS switched off in same visit. 259bhp for 1210kg gives same power to weight as a stock TTS 😉. Bilstein B14. Feels lively, pulls out of corners well, and can still get 50mpg at steady 70mph. Link to remap printout: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9rpmwnp1ig7kw ... .jpeg?dl=0
