I'm having a bit of difficulty with my spare key fob. The battery had gone completely flat. After renewing the battery and cleaning the contacts, I programmed it in the ignition with my good functioning key in the door lock. I had to try a few times before it worked. Trouble is, I then found the previously functioning key didn't work. Further more I went back in doors and came back out the spare key fob would no longer work.

I was able to reprogramme the previously good key fob using the now still non-working spare. So relief at least I have recover the previously good fob.

I repeated several times the programming procedure and got the same sad results.

I did get an in-between state at one point where the the spare key would work after repeated presses (the other key was working normally this time.) Same problem when I went indoors and came out again there was no function from the spare key again. It did come back to function after multiple presses but taking the key away from the car resulted in it stopping working again.

Is my spare key done? Or am I doing something wrong? Here is my procedure from YouTube.

1. Put the non-working key fob in the ignition and two turns to light up the dash instruments.
2. Put the functioning key in the door lock and turn to lock twice.
3. Press the unlock button on the key fob that is in the ignition slot. Indicators flash once.
4. Wait 5 seconds and press the lock button on the key fob in the ignition. Indicators flash but sometimes like a fast blick once. Sometimes a full flash.
5. Remove both keys and they should both work? Sadly not as described before.

Anyone able to help? Any bright ideas please.
