Having tried different combinations of leather gaiter with original worn gear knob to leather gaiter and cookbot gear knob, cookbot gearknob with original gaiter, I have now gone to a new OEM gaiter and OEM leather gear knob (would have liked a new all aluminium gear knob but way to much money).
The cookbot gear knob is fantastic quality and looks really good but having tried it found that the look and feel just wasn’t right for me.

I was going to message about that. Tickets sold out in early February, unbelievably early this year, so we've missed out I'm afraid. It was March last year when I bought the tickets, so when I went online a few weeks ago to sort it, I was shocked!! I'm waiting to hear about Blackpool, so will keep you posted.

The Badger 5 TIP I had fitted last year along with a lot of other engine work is probably the best TIP providing the best performance gains. However the location of the various off takes for the DV, N75 valve and PRV do not replicate the OEM TIP.
Over the last few days I have spent a little bit of time trying to find the best routing for the N75 valve which also required some trimming of both the DV and N75 valve off takes.
The electrical connection is ok but I may splice in a new plug with some additional cable length so that it is not quite so close to the limit of its current length.

As with all things TT what starts out looking like a straight forward job develops into something bigger and in this case highlighted some errors made when I had some work done by what I thought was a good independent vag specialist.
So back in 2016 I had Bilstein B14 adjustable coil overs and rear shocks and springs fitted, these were set at their lowest setting which I had asked for but for some time now I’d thought that they needed to be raised up 5 to 10 mm just to give me a little bit more arch clearance. The current unusual circumstances seemed to offer the perfect opportunity to get the job done.
The front coil overs are relatively easy to adjust the rear adjustable spring plates are a different story requiring the rear shock absorber being disconnected from the trailing arm and the removal of the spring to get access to the spring plate.

The rear springs as originally installed in 2016 with the adjuster on the bottom which is actually incorrect as per the Bilstein installation instructions.

In addition the rear headlight level sensor linkage was incorrectly installed and also very corroded, this has to be removed to allow the trailing arm to move down when removing the spring.

So the fun begins, removing the springs is actually not that difficult to get to the adjustable spring plates. Unfortunately once removed they were completely seized, not helped by being installed incorrectly.
Also being installed at the bottom and not at the top meant I was now missing some original parts needed for when they are put back correctly.

Although I did manage to free off the adjusters, given the state they were in I decided to make an enquiry with Bilstein to get some replacements and also some new springs.
Two weeks after placing the order the new parts arrived.
