Finally, somewhat overdue, bur today is a good day.

My TTOC welcome pack finally arrived and the real journey has begun.

The back story-
I decided in the summer to sell my Mercedes c220 amg and get something sportier and a little cheaper. Initially looking at 350z's and s2000's I couldn't find anything that was either blown out after 7 owners or a silly price. Then the idea landed...an Audi TT. 2 weeks of looking online later and I managed to pick up a very standard 2015 mk3 in white from Birmingham in mid July. A 6am flight Belfast>Brum on a Saturday morning, a test drive and good scout about later and by 3pm I was on the road to Cairnryan for the 11.30 ferry home. Whew...what a day.

After filling baskets with mods for a month or 2, McAfee & Sons in Ballymena got in a beautiful 20 year, Aviator Grey Pearl, tan leather interior quattro very limited edition TT (number 324/999 for anyone interested) which I couldn't get off my mind. After a haggle...and falling in love on a test drive I bit the bullet and bought it. Now there were a few things that bugged me about my white TT...1) it was a cat N, and a few small things didn't sit quite right. 2) it was a manual, which I did enjoy, but I really did miss the ease of automatic, 3) it wasn't a quattro, and after looking at modification for power output etc and discussing remaps with racing line, I quickly realised how much more beneficial a quattro would be. And boy do you notice the difference and.... last but not least 4) it was bloody annoying having 1 cup holder and no arm rest, this was enough in itself haha!

Anyhow, I managed to get +2k in value trading in the white TT for the 20 year edition...which I can honestly say I have absolutely fallen in love with. So far we've only managed a road trip to the Irish north coast and a spin along the beach. But we have a few things lined up.

So after 2 weeks of ownership I've already planned a few changes.

I'VE purchased a set of machine finished custom cut JR33 19 inch alloys and booked in a gloss black powder coat for them. Due to arrive and be done at the end of the month. My brake calipers are being professionally sprayed a fresh copper to match the tan leather, hoping they will pop more than the current gloss black calipers and give a bit more show.

I've ordered some 3d gel plates, plain, nothing too over the top for my private reg which I'll register as soon as they arrive this week. I know these are very much up for debate. I personally hate the "4d" etc but I like the 3d...I think. If I hate them, I have originals there.

I've ordered the typical black badges for front and rear, I really just cannot deal with chrome, the car as standard is dechromed, I think the grey which is a shade lighter than nardo combined with the gloss black grille and eventually alloys should look pretty good. And I also ordered a black and a white "324/999" 20mm by 50mm decal, which I'm undecided about placing on the car at present...watch this space.

Other things I've been looking at but yet to make the jump is the Racingline R600 air intake. I like the idea of hearing a beefier noise and the reviews look great, at some stage I will have a stage 2 done anyway. So may get this done early. And also an RS rear wing... again. Open to opinion, I've seen the ABT after market wing. Personally I find it a bit much for what sort of look I'm going for.

This weekend, rather than spend £300 on a black petrol cap and surround I decided to remove my chrome one and do it myself.
At first I gave vinyl wrapping a go in gloss black 3m. Now, I'm no expert at this, and if you don't have much experience I would advise against. The surround is fairly easy given the 6 screw holes and large central hole, it's easy to wrap and get rid of any bubbles. However, the cap with debossed "TT" lettering is a pain in the ***.
Anyway, decided to pull that off and instead spraying it gloss black. As always I recommend at least 2 coats of primer to give a good even finish. Then at least 2 coats of the paint, ensuring to alternate stroke direction so you get into the edges and screw holes. Followed by a few coats of clear coat to protect the paint.

I did try and paint the "TT" in Aviator Grey Pearl, it was a disaster, seems easier in theory, reverted to keeping same all black.

Update time,

Gel plates arrived surrounded with the German flag lettering so needed to have them changed to the plain 3D gel plates and my private reg. Very happy with the look.

Finally got my alloys powdercoated gloss black, highly recommend Autoworx Lurgan for anyone in Northern Ireland, they charged £210.00 including picking up my wheels since the TT wouldn't take all 4, cleaned up the original alloys and dropped them back to my house too. Great service, very personable guys, I ended up needing 5mm spacers as although the manufacturer told me they would fit, they ended up hitting the calipers. Now thwyre on I absolutely LOVE the look, was worth the hassle in my opinion.

Additionally, my girlfriend bought me a Teddy with a black audi hoody hahaha we've named him AB (Audi bear) he has pride of place on my dash 😂
