I will mention at this point for anyone who chooses to read further there is happy ending.

Having not sat my driving test until I was 26 (now 51) the first car I drove was my husbands Sierra XR4 x 4, which was soon changed to be changed to a Sierra Cosworth. I really wanted my own car and came home one day to find an XR3 in the drive. A few years later this was changed along with the Cosworth to a Golf GTI and an Impretza. These were kept for a while until one Christmas morning I got a set of keys and looking out the window saw my Christmas present in the drive, an Alfa Romeo Spider, 2 litre, silver, black soft top, full leather trim, Bose sound system (I had always wanted a little convertible ). The impretza was also changed to a BMW M3 (this was not to last long due to the weather and altitude of East Kilbride, famous for roundabouts and snow). I had my little spider for about 6 years and loved her, although she was awful in the snow and ice (All you Scottish people will understand when I say I lived in East Kilbride) and here upkeep was expensive.

Unfortunately several years ago my husband died and I was finding it difficult to spend both the time and money she deserved, so she had to go (much to my disappointment). A very nice girl flew up all the way from “Essex” to buy her ( I get an email every so often to let me now she is still going strong. I then got a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2 litre, this was to

accommodate my dog, a beautiful German shepherd called Sasha, although going back to the spider I did have a special seat belt to accommodate her in the passenger seat. Used to draw some funny and startled looks when stopped at traffic lights, especially if I had the roof down. Then again I was to be hit with sadness, having lost Sasha to old age. At which point I decided to ditch the Vitara and went for a "sensible car" a Suzuki Swift Sport.

This was to stay my car for a couple of years, until I met my now partner (soon to be husband - aka noroomforthedog). He has a TT MK1 3.2 Quattro DSG. This was what he picked me up in on our first date, and I thought this will do for me.

Having been “ALLOWED” to drive it a couple of times (only kidding) it got me thinking about changing my car again, coupled with the fact that we had just moved house to the top of a hill, I started thinking about a 4 x 4 again, but still kept thinking back to my spider, then one day will surfing the net I came across my BeeBee (Mk1 Quattro Rag top 1.8t 225 - imola yellow - hence the name BeeBee, short for bumble bee, being she’s yellow and black I thought the name was appropriate) and decided I just had to have her. She has black leather interior with Bose sound system. Trying to be semi sensible I looked at a few other cars, but was always drawn back to her.

We drove through to Dunfermline to look at her. As soon as seen I was smitten, paid a deposit and collected her the following week. I have to say having had a few days of snow now, I am one of the few cars that can get up and down the hill with no problems, see …. I did go for a sensible car. One thing I am looking forward to is the summer, so I can get the roof down (I have so much missed having a convertible). I will say that BeeBee is far superior to my spider (although she will always have a place in my heart). Having heated seats, a better engine (not that I know much about that side of things,) 4 wheel drive, her roof doesn’t leak , the locks don’t freeze up every time it gets cold outside and she’s only 3 years younger than the spider, “Vorsprung durch Technik springs to mind, I am no expert but dare I say there is definitely a difference in having German and Itallian design.

I’m now looking for another special harness to accommodate Bono as noroomforthedog has noroomforthedog, as well as something to protect the leather seats from claw marks, so if any one has any suggestions they would be appreciated. If anyone ever sees a yellow TT with a large dog in the passenger set then give me a wave, it’s me.

Have had her now for 5 months (our drive looks like this).

I have to say she is the best thing since sliced bread, I don't think I could go back now, she’s even better than the Spider. I've now driven her in most conditions, sun (with the top down) although I think the sun has only shone twice since I got her, the rain, ice and snow and at no time have I ever felt unsafe or lost control, she really is a dream . I have managed to get out of a couple of situations because of her power and agility. I just love her shape, her handling and especially the heated seats in the cold. When being on my own I didn’t really drive very much and began to loose my confidence in driving. But since getting BeeBee I am now back enjoying driving again and getting more confident by the day. The confidence is down to two things BeeBee being one and “noroomforthe dog” being the other. I just want to jump in her and drive and and there’s a smile on my face every time I’m behind the wheel.

Mods, not many, yet….. so far are armrest (obligatory), yellow trim mats, x-carlink for my music and iPhone (10% discount courtesy of TTOC, my partner being a member), coat hanger, On the windbreak have added frosted Audi circles as well as TTOC vinyl borrowed !!! from no room for the dog - only until my membership comes through you understand. In progress…. V6 honeycomb valance and V6 spoiler. Thinking of getting the alloys powder coated black, comments welcome. Let me know what you think if you see me in Crieff next month.

To anyone out there, that is considering owing a TT, I would have to say go for it, you'll never look back, in more ways than one.

The moral of this story is - Good things come to those that wait, I now have a wonderful man in my life, an even better dog, and an even better car. What more can a woman ask for……..

something to protect the leather seats from claw marks, so if any one has any suggestions
some ideas:
1. keep the nails trimmed
2. bathmat
3. sheepskin seat covers
