EvenTT08

Following on from the success of EvenTT07 at Donington, this year’s TT Owners Club annual event is being held at the Rockingham Oval, in Northamptonshire, except it’s not just an Oval, as you shall see!

The date is now set as Sunday July 20th, with gates open from 10am for general access. We are planning the biggest ever trade village and are already trying to find extra space to accommodate all the traders that want to attend! Details are still being finalised for the exact itinerary, but that is nothing new. We generally firm up the details close to the event and keep our website updated. This year we shall also be keeping the details up to date on a variety of TT specific on-line forums.

To book your entrance or trackday tickets, click here.

Trackday details

With the 2.5 mile long full international track booked for what will definitely be an absolutely fantastic trackday experience and prices starting from as little as £50, we hope to see more TT’s than ever on the track.

The viewing platform on top of the pit garages will provide a highlight this year like never before. Viewing from a static position will allow a view of the full 150mph banked section of the track near the grandstand, the slalom and also the trade village.

Parade lap & photo opportunity

We break from tradition this year, with the parade lap and official absoluTTe cover photo organised for lunchtime. This way we hope to persuade more people to come on the parade lap which a highlight of the day for most people and also stay for the photo shoot on the banked section of the track.

Trade village

Following on from last year’s slightly disappointing turnout by your favourite traders, this year we have a commitment from the following traders. Special offers and discounts will be offered on a variety of products and services.

APS
Abt
Backdraft
Excel Dents
JBS / Custom Code
p-torque
Revo
TTShop
TT Spares
VAGCheck
VAGTech

More traders are considering attending and the list will be updated in due course.

Food, Concours, etc

A TT concours competition will also feature again this year, as we yet again see Andy and Dave renew their friendly car cleaning rivalry.

The food this year will be provided by the Rockingham Speedway restaurant and promises to surpass every other year for food quality! Wicked Wheels and Dent Master will be around on the day to help fix your pride and joy. We’re planning on making this bigger and better than ever before and are working on one of two surprises, to be announced nearer the event.

Regional cruises to the EvenTT08

Every year, your local TTOC rep organises a SPECTACULAR TT cruise to the club’s annual event. This takes the form of an earlyish morning meeting at a motorway services or someone’s house. The TT’s get going and pick up others en-route. Remember the scene in the Magnificent Seven, where new gunfighters join the group slowly building to a magnificent sight? Well we do it even BETTER! As your region’s cruise to the event gets underway, you’ll find yourself meeting other areas and their cruise and all of a sudden your group has doubled in size and before you know it, it has doubled again.

Imagine the sight... dozens and dozens of TT in colours and styles all in a massive long tail, streaking back into the distance. EVERYONE in other cars, looks on in awe and wonderment. Remember the TT is still an ICON to many and the sight of so many MK1’s, MK2’s Coupes and Roadsters in every colour imaginable is a sight to make adults green and kids smile and point “Daddy, can we have a TT?”!

Your nearest regional rep details can be found here. If you struggle to make contact with your nearest rep, click here and we’ll make sure he/she contacts you!

AGM

As with every year, we are holding the club’s AGM and charity auction on the evening before the EvenTT. This years AGM will be held on Saturday 19th July at the Peterborough Marriot Hotel. Mention the special rate word Audi to get these rates:
The room rates are:
£69 is room only
£79 is B&B single occupancy
£89 is B&B double occupancy

February 2008 Club Update
Posted by Nick Goodall on Monday, 18th February 2008

Recap
A very brief recap on 2007... To say 2007 was a tough TTOC year would probably be an understatement! Whilst we made good progress in some areas we did make a few steps backwards in others, notably with regard to the magazine in the latter half of the year.

absoluTTe
Fortunately we now have John Handford at the Editorial helm and the absoluTTe ship has steadied. It did take a fair while to get ourselves back to square one after losing 2 editors, 1 designer and our printer. We are hopeful that we are back on course again... in fact so on course that you should have already had absoluTTe15!! And what a bumper issue it was! In fact, it was not only our biggest ever issue, but has been universally accepted as our best ever issue!

If you believe you should have received absoluTTe 15, but haven’t... please email us at committee@ttoc.co.uk with your membership number and postcode we’ll pop another in the post.

James Unwin, Audi UK TT Product Manager, “What a fantastic issue of absoluTTe. The copies you sent us have gone down very well internally. Please congratulate all concerned on what is a very professional publication and a hugely interesting read!”

Events
Whilst EvenTT07 was a significant improvement over previous years with the introduction of a track element – enjoyed by dozens of members – it is also fair to say that it wasn't as good as we had planned for. We learn a lot at every annual event and 2007 was no exception. 2008 will see an improved method of ensuring suppliers; exhibitors and traders actually attend this year. Most let us down badly at the last moment and if it wasn’t for the likes of theTTShop, APS and AudiTTSpares our “trade village” would have looked deserted!

EvenTT08
The planning for EvenTT08 has already started. We are planning on it being even bigger and better than EvenTT07. The venue this year will be Rockingham Circuit in Northamptonshire and the date will be Sunday 20th July. More details, including the Hotels, AGM, times and an activities list will be announced shortly. Keep a close eye on our website for more information.

Non-TTOC events
We are planning to support a few non-TTOC events this year. So look out for confirmed dates for Poole – Quay for a car, Gti International & Audi Driver International, etc
Keep an eye on our website & events calendar for more information on future events!

Trackday
The next TT Owners Club event will be a trackday at Castle Combe on Saturday 23rd Feb. More details are available here and some general trackday advice & information is available here. Tickets can be purchased here for the full trackday and here for the “newbie” session.

These are a just a few quotes from owners that are participated in our previous track-days

Rhod [aka Rhod_TT] wrote

[TT Owners Club track-days are] easily the most civil and relaxed of any track days I've attended organised by tracks or owners/enthusiasts"

Richard [aka mighTy Tee] wrote

I did a previous (December 2005) TTOC track day at Castle Combe, there were a small number of other cars there but everyone drove safely and there was no intimidation. Everyone knew one person who knew the "strangers" personally, so you were amongst friends... I would recommend the TTOC track day as being probably the safest way to enjoy Castle Combe.

James [aka James_G60] wrote

Was a great day - well organised, very chilled out & good weather!

Hope everyone had a good day!

Duncan [aka DuncS3] wrote

Yet another great TT track day - I'm looking forward to the next one!

Gary [aka MrL] wrote

It was a brilliant day and I really enjoyed meeting everyone.
Thanks to all for the effort put in to organising the event, see you all at another Track Day next year!

Lisa wrote

Fabulous day again, much my preferred type of "meet", chatting, eating, laughing, driving and such in glorious winter sun!

I had a great time on the track and wasn't nervous at all, everyone took the day as it should be, friendly and just a little competitive but not at all intimidating. I really enjoyed my time on the track and think I took the cab to its limits. I would have loved to have done it in my TT if I still had that.

Thanks to everyone involved in the organising, roll on the next one!!!

Club Representatives
Whilst on the subject of “events”, our national network of Club Reps hosts a variety of events on a frequent basis. These can be simple pub meets for a chat and catch-up, a weekend cruise or a trip abroad. As our club membership grows (and is doing quite rapidly), our Reps are suggesting they don’t seem to be seeing many new members popping along to their events. It really is a great way to meet new people, develop new friends, have a good time and perhaps go on a few trips!

Your local Rep is always ready and eager to talk to you about their next event. If you are unsure of who your local Rep is, please email our Rep Secretary. If you know who they are, you might just get to know what they planning and when! You never know you may just find that you have the very evening or weekend free!

Remember, your rep not only organises local events & meets, but could also answer those niggling questions about your TT.

For more information on the reps, click here.

Committee positions & other stuff
Through the 2007 we’ve lost a few committee members and this has left us very short handed in most areas of club management & administration. If you feel you have some spare time, love your TT and want to give something back, click here.

We have magazine, events, design, marketing & advertising roles available. Don't worry if you don’t have a huge amount of experience. Do you think any of us did when we started the club? In this case enthusiasm counts as much as experience!

We’re also trying to understand where to spend the club’s money regarding advertising and marketing. To this end, we’ve added a few questions to your shop account. If you could spend a couple of minutes logging onto your account and answering them, we would be very grateful.

Here are a few hints and tips if you are experiencing any issues...

• Click here to get a password reminder
• If you are already a member, we would really appreciate you using your existing account if you renew your membership.

And lastly, we run our club for you and us. If you have any suggestions or ideas on how we might improve our events, the magazine or our member benefits, please email us.

Have a great 2008 and we hope to see you at EvenTT08!

Regards
The TT Owners Club committee
