Next issue to tackle is some water spot marks on my fuel cap.

Anything to be done or just a replacement needed?

Tried polish and even metal polish but did nothing more than make the marks really clean.

Bit of an update on my mods.

Pioneer AVICf70-DAB double din head unit is now in along with aerials. GPS is under the dash and the mic is in the OEM position.

I'll get some better photos when I figure out how to get format right off my phone so I can put them on here.

A few better photos and one that I had a play with the photo editing on my mobile telephonic handset.

Alas figured the photo compatibility now!

So a bit more detail on the head unit install....

Getting the right cables was a little bit of a fanny about with the supplier recommending the wrong antenna and the wrong facia kit. The cage from the pioneer did not fit in the first facia adaptor during a test fit. So ordered another facia with its own adjustable depth cage. The antenna they sent was only a single connection but needs a double connection.

Anywho, the DAB aerial was a little tricky to fit as it needed a connection to some bare metal body work. The copper pad is quite short and its fiddly to the roof where I mounted it. The rest of the cables were relatively easy. The GPS antenna is mounted on a cross beam behind the glovebox and airbag. The signal is not as strong as it could be if it was mounted on the dash but its strong enough. Keeps it hidden. I got a microphone to fit in the OEM slot, again to keep it hidden. Works just fine but does require a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack adaptor.

The final fit isn't 100% perfect but it's not really noticeable. The pioneer screen is flat but the facia is curved so the corners stick out a bit. Also the final trim panel took some filing down as the tabs would push the cage up or down and not leave enough room for the other tabs.

The sound quality is a MASSIVE improvement over the concert system and Bose. It's immediately noticeable and takes away the ringing noise when the power is on but no sound is played. Still getting used to the navigation but so far so good except that the naviextras software is not compatible on Mac. Voice guidance is a little delayed, to the point where it tells you to turn left right at the point where you should be starting the turn already.

Few shots of the Blackvue DR550GW-HD Dashcam.

Had this in my A5. Sods law is now I've got it I haven't been hit. Whereas when I didn't have it I got hit and run twice!

The only visible cable is from the roof to the cam. If I ever get the light sensing bits fitted I can hide the cable just that little bit more.

Few more pics of the dash cam.

The power box is mounted in the drivers side footwell so I can easily turn the cam on/off.

So no news for a while....

Dash cam now has piggy back connectors although I need to source a new power control box as my power magic pro let my battery run flat.

The fogs I got from a Seat dealer form audi-sport.net. Part #'s are 8J0 807 681 H3 ( fog grill left ), 8J0 807 682 H3 ( fog grill right ), 8J0 807 697 H ( thin centre grill ) for any body looking.

The main grill was from Xenonz.co.uk. E-mail them and TT forum members get a small discount. Turned out to be about £15 off in the end. The TTRS badge is removable. Question is now whether or not to get a TTS badge or just leave it....

Installation took somewhat longer than I had planned. Didn't help that I started the morning off running round Norwich trying to find somebody with an air gun that was willing to tackle my rounded locking wheel nut. In the end some guys from tyre pro's did it for me providing I could get some replacement bolts. They even did it for free!

Anyway, the easiest part was removing some tabs on the fog grills otherwise they wouldn't sit flush enough.

(the peppering of stone chips is annoying but I have plans afoot >:D )
All I did was use some pliers to bend the tabs off then filed down what was left.

Getting the bumper off wasn't too bad. I had some grit in the star drives for the head lights that was a bugger to get out. Due to the grit the tool didn't bite enough and just rounded itself ::). Eventually all came off after following a guide for a TTRS bumper removal on the quattroworld forums.

(the going greyish bit in the middle of where the grill should be was sawn off)

The bumper needed modifying by taking out the centre cross beam. Again fairly easy to do. But the grill itself also needed modifying......
