After 40 years of driving I have just bought my first German car. 2006 mk1 1.8 Roadster. Lots of miles on the clock and so far lots of fun. Everything seems to work apart from the LED on the dashboard which Patryk is going to sort out for me on Thursday. Looking forward to the road trip from Canterbury to Rugby! My local garage is run by a VAG specialist; he has a TT coupe and a mk3 Golf running 380bhp, so I think I will be in good hands.
My previous mid-life crisis led me Italian when I owned 3 Fiat Coupes and a 90s Alfa Spider. At the same time! Great fun but a serious money pit. The coupes were one for show (Moon grey Plus standard 220hp), one for go (Scots Green running 380hp) and a blue 20vt that I put my gardening kit in.... the lawn mower went on the front seat! The spider was a gorgeous car but I made the mistake of beefing up the suspension with lowering Bilsteins and therefore I could not negotiate the speed humps around my home... :'
Anyway, nice to be on board and C19 permitting meet up with fellow owners soon. Any cricket fans about? I am a member of the Barmy Army and follow England abroad when I can. Hoping to go to India and Sri Lanka in early 2021 but can’t see spectators being allowed any time soon.
Jorge,
Thanks for your reply. I have access to a flat in Marbella which I am thinking of visiting next year on a road trip. COVID allowing, if I do it I will let you know and we can meet up for a Rioja or two,
