Hello all,

After over 20 years of Jaguar XJ ownership, I decided it was time for a change. But what to buy ? Obviously another luxo-barge was my first instinct, and the Audi A8 was high on the list, but I decided maybe it was time for something completely different.
The list was getting endless. BMW Z4, Peugeot RCZ, Jaguar XK, Mercedes SL, I was seeing cars in my sleep ! But because I liked the idea of having an Audi, I kept circling back to that section of Autotrader.
While perusing, I came across the TT. Never really considered one before, but after giving it the once over, then another one, I decided it fit one of my criteria, it was very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The RCZ also fit the bill, but only on the outside, the interior is a mess !
But the TT is good looking from every angle, including that gorgeous bespoke interior. So my mind was made up. Partly. Which engine ?
I would have been happy with the 1.8, but I definitely didn't want a turbo, so 3.2 it is !
So the search began. One trip to Andover from Croydon to view a low mileage (60000) one, which turned out to have a sea of rust around the rear underside. 4 hours wasted. Then a trip to Bournemouth, and there it was !
Black, Black leather. Automatic. Extremely clean inside, out and underbonnet. And only 80000 miles. It had to be mine ! The test drive didn't show up any problems, everything worked ok, and after a little haggling ( I would have paid the asking price) I now own a TT !
So far it's only needed a new battery (wrong size fitted) and new wipers. Lets see if it's as good as it appears, or turns into a money pit !
Speaking of which, does anyone know of a good indy TT specialist in the Croydon/South East area ? Just in case ! 🀞🏽🀞🏽🀞🏽

Thanks for the welcome.
Starting to find a few faults with the car, nothing of great concern (yet). Had to replace the battery when it died after standing for 2 days. On examination, it was physically too small for the compartment, and only 60Ah. A quick trip to Halfords and the exchange of Β£120 and an 80Ah Yuasa battery was nestling snugly in its place. Windscreen wipers have been replaced (no more juddering), and new dipped and main beam bulbs as one of the old dipped beams would only work intermittently. Side lights are on the agenda as well, something a bit brighter than the sickly yellow ones currently in place..
Currently waiting for a set of engine bay cover bolts and fasteners to arrive, along with an air vent mounted phone holder and a replacement alarm siren, as the old one has taken a vow of silence ! Also considering investing in a set of Altezza taillights from Australia, as they have the reversing and fog lights on the correct sides, and the black ones would go well with the body colour. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130803021508.
A few pounds spent, but mainly cosmetic stuff. In general the car has been great fun. A run down to Weymouth and back over the weekend showed just how quick the car still is, considerably quicker than my 3.5L XJ8 was. Sadly, also heavier on fuel. I noticed that at 70 mph, the rev counter was showing 2500 rpm while the Jaguar showed 2000. But when every Audi that passes you slows down to check out those gorgeous curves, you know you made the right choice ! πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½
