A few weeks ago I picked up a front subframe from a TT breakers in Blackburn with a view to getting it refurbished as a project for next year. While looking at various options for corrosion removal and refinishing I came across a website for a company in Preston which is not that far from me.
Ribble Technology use a three stage process of Thermal Pyrolysis, Chemical De-Rust and Electrostatic Korroprime.
The subframe was dropped off and after a couple of weeks it was ready for collection.

Just a small job carried out to the interior during December, the fwd centre console stowage sliding cover was looking a bit worse for wear and I was able to pick up a new replacement part.
In order to replace it requires the removal of the three switches for the petrol cap, interior motion sensor inhibit and boot release, then the complete stowage compartment and cover can be removed allowing the replacement of the cover.
I had previously picked up a second hand set of switches which weren’t perfect but they were still better than mine so these would get replaced at the same time.

Old and new cover.

Reinstalled and now unfortunately showing up the ingrained dirt and grime on the surrounding console, will tackle this later to see if it’s possible to try and achieve a closer match to the newly installed cover.

Another job ticked off the to do list, I originally picked up the tank straps in 2019 but although new, the paint finish wasn’t that good being scratched in a few places.
Since I had some time available I contacted the local powder coating company to see if they were still open and dropped them off the same day along with my original front headlight level sensor bracket that I’d cleaned up. Four days later and they were ready for collection.

Removing the nuts on the front of the two rear under trays proved troublesome and took some time to complete with one shearing the threaded pin it attaches to (another issue to resolve). Thankfully although the straps themselves were heavily corroded, removal of the attaching bolts was uneventful and now both new straps have been installed with new bolts.

Something I did earlier this year was to have a go at cleaning up the original alloy gearshift that I’d replaced last year. Not perfect but better than it was and it certainly feels better when changing gears than the lighter replacement. Not sure how the finish will hold up over time given that the original burnished finish is no longer present.
