8 hours in a bath of Bilt Hamber Deox-C and we are nearly ready for some primer.

Quite often when I’ve been driving I’ve looked down at the gear stick and thought that it was about time to put some colour back into the gear positions and numbers.
So with the aid of a tooth pick and some Humbrol paint the task has been performed.

Thank you, since the interior is Audi feather grey it seemed appropriate to choose a colour that would be in keeping with the rest of the interior.

My plan is to keep the TT off the road for the winter months, with this in mind I’m drawing up a wish list of jobs I’d like to do during the coming months. So far I’d like to fit the Seat Leon Cupra R front splitter that I picked up last year, change the camshaft cover for the original now colour coded Glacier Blue, install the Fluidampr pulley that I’ve had a couple of years now and reinstall the original gear selector cable bracket that I recently removed. In addition to this the Forge adjustable tie bars have started to corrode once again, I’m not sure if it’s just me but this is the second set that I have had and the powder coating just doesn’t seem to be that good and has started to flake off and corrosion to set in, hopefully it’s only surface and can be restored.

So the winter fun begins, front bumper cover removed for the LCR splitter installation. There are two threaded boses on the bottom of the intercooler that I will grind down as they do touch the bumper cover when it’s fitted causing a couple of small bumps which don’t provide a flat surface for the splitter to mount to..

Original gear selector cable bracket painted and new bushes and spacers fitted, ready to reinstall at a suitable opportunity.

Last time I fitted the front wheel arch liners I managed to put one of the attaching screws into the headlight washer hose. Sourced a replacement from a TT breakers and swapped it out. The windscreen washer bottle attachment bolts need to be removed to allow the bottle to move out so that you can reach the clip that holds the hose to the headlight washer pump on the bottom of the washer bottle.
