I’ll do my best, events tend to have that annoying habit of coinciding with weekends that I’m rostered to work. Hopefully 2024 will be different.

Something I did a few days ago before going back to work, the re installation of the engine mount to body. Nice to see something going back in as opposed to coming off!!

After a couple of aborted attempts at installing the gearbox over the weekend by myself I decided to use the help offered by my neighbour and Sunday afternoon within an hour the gearbox was in. There really is no easy way to do this especially when you are trying as best as possible not to touch anything and damage the powder coat finish, which is why you definitely need two people to guide it in.
A couple of pictures of gearbox and mount and the metal bracket attached to the transfer box and engine block.

Some progress made with getting everything back together, it’s taking a lot longer than I thought but this is partly due to my not wanting to put something back that is starting to corrode combined with finding the right combination of tools to torque the bolts and nuts when reinstalling.
Some reconnections I’ve just had to make a judgement call because it’s not possible to get a torque wrench on them.
Below are a couple of pictures of the starter motor back in place and a new power steering line that I picked up back in 2020 installed between the pump and steering rack.

An example of one of the brackets that was heavily corroded that has been cleaned up but ideally would like to replace before installation that holds the cable support clamp to the upper starter motor attachment bolt.

Had a couple of bits arrive while I was away, some lock nuts that hold the two power steering pipes together that run at the back of the engine.and gearbox.
Also a new bracket that holds the cable support bracket to the upper starter motor mounting bolt that was corroded.

Subframe cleaned up and a fresh coat of Bilt Hamber Dynax UC applied before installation.

Subframe fitted and new bolts torqued to 100Nm plus 90 degrees, a 3/4” breaker bar was definitely a good choice when the extra 90 degrees was required no flexing at all.
