This weekend after several attempts and lots of patience and some washing up liquid I reinstalled the seals on the newly painted roof rails ready to fit later in the year.

Replaced the nearside roof rail that I had painted myself with one that I had done professionally a few weeks ago and at the same time took the opportunity to remove the erosion tape that is on the bodywork that protects it from the harness that goes to the tailgate.
Whenever I wash the car I look at it and wonder if there is any rust underneath it as it is so discoloured but after removal and cleanup it’s all good.

I ordered and received these some weeks ago but thought today I would open the box and check out the contents. Not sure when I will install these but it’s nice to know that if an existing hose should fail I have a quality hose to replace it.

Sometime ago while working on the rear suspension I noticed that the hand brake cable guide tubes were in a very sorry state.
A few months back I picked up a second hand pair from a TT breakers that were in really good condition with minimal rust. I’ve now cleaned them up, applied a coat of Bilt Hamber Electrox and a top coat of Eastwoods Extreme Chassis Satin Black.

One item I meant to do during the gearbox removal, overhaul and refit was to clean up the gear selector cable bracket that is attached to the gearbox.
Unfortunately for whatever reason this didn’t get done, so I recently picked up a second hand bracket from a TT breakers in Blackburn that I’ll clean up and swap out with mine so that I can do what I had originally intended several months ago.
Below is the second hand bracket that I picked up after a quick clean, I’ll do some more before fitting.
