1st August came and went! Silver Arrow also went and came back home! Paid my car tax (then had a lie down) and lady wife and myself went off.........hood down in the lovely sunshine. Whooo!!! It was great to be back on the road doing what it was meant for, a real good mixture of roads (50 miles total) - did a part of the new A14 (Godmanchester to Brampton Hut) a really nice piece of road surfacing. I will return there in a year's time and see what it is like!!
No leaks on returning home and letting things settle and best of all, no oily smell whilst driving, cam cover must be good now.

Sorted another little niggle I’ve had since taking ownership. The stereo head had not been fitted properly, it all worked, but sat off skew and didn’t seem to be fully recessed into DIN hole! Took it all out, WOW, the ferrites on the speaker wires are GINORMOUS, not sure if this is part of the Kenwood setup, but it seems to work fine. With all cables out, redressed cables and refitted those ferrites, now stereo head and carrier fitted flush front to back and left to right.
Funny how these little things give so much satisfaction when completed! With all that heat today I awarded myself a nice cool beer! Lovely.......

Another little job completed to help keep Silver Arrow straight and true! Oil dipstick and sleeve replaced (bought from the bay) and part number embossed on new parts, I know that’s no guarantee! Having had bits come off whilst checking the oil and an orange intruder in the last oil change, needed to be done.
Also now more confident that cam cover gasket replacement has sorted oil leak, Happy Days!

Today completed replacement of front brake discs and pads, was an advisory on MOT back in February, so it needed to be done, rears also to be done, discs and pads bought ready.
Discs painted with caliper paint on ventilation flutes and caliper wire brushed clean, then painted also. I decided to use a silver colour to reflect car paintwork. Very satisfied with results.
Brake fluid needs to be replaced also, but O/S rear brake pipe needs to be replaced too, so will do fluid change at that time in next couple of weeks.
As I need Silver Arrow to get me to weekly volunteering, I try to do jobs that keep the car roadworthy and safe, within my limited budget.
I get as much pleasure and enjoyment from doing these sort of jobs, as I do from driving!

Another job completed satisfactory, (no pics unfortunately, mobile is in for repairs!). Rear discs and pads replaced, also new slider bolts fitted, as two originals Fubarred on removal. Calipers, carriers and new discs were all painted before fitment. Test run after was amazing, (all standard parts used) but the difference now with all 4 corners done is wonderful.
Next couple of jobs lined up are flexi pipes replacement and brake fluid also.

This is Silver Arrow feeling sorry for herself, up on stands with rain falling! What’s going on?
Completed front brake flexible pipes replacement, now just waiting for a dry day to replace rear brake flexible pipes and change brake fluid. Invested in the Sealy pressure bleeder after reading umpteen posts.
At least having done the cam cover gasket, there is now a dry engine undertray.
Started using Bilt Hamber Surfex HD, their APC, seems to be doing a great job in front wheel arches.
Hoping to meet my old RAF mate before Xmas, please can I have a dry day please.

Quick update, started rear trailing arms brake pipe replacement, both sides fine. Then did N/S rear flexi................ I’d doused all the unions in penetrating fluid for 3 days prior to starting and felt very satisfied with both rear fixed pipes done, CRASH back to ground! Both and I mean each fixed pipe union to flexis, screwed up the fixed pipe!!!! Still, at least I know the replacements will outlast me. Not done anything yet - this WONDERFUL weather has kept me indoors and warm! Have a friend that runs a garage, I’ll able to borrow his flaring tool and purchase all necessary fittings. I’ve had to get a lift from family arranged for dentist check up tomorrow, as lady wife has hairdresser appointment at same time, anything for a quiet life!

We’re still here and enjoying life! I managed to get brake fluid replaced using the Sealy pressure bleeder kit and using VCDS to bleed the ABS module. It’s now time to do another oil and filter change and replace coolant mix. Fixed a leak in hood, thankfully caught early, so very little dampness in carpet.
Will take photos and upload others from hood fix.

EML needs cam chain adjuster replacement, but house move has priority! I’m told.
